Professional:
I have a Ph.D from the University of California San Diego in the general field of Structural Engineering with specific focus on wave propagation. My adviser at UCSD was Dr. Francesco Lanza di Scalea. I am now working as a postdoctoral researcher in Dr. Nemat Nasser's group. I will be joining the Mechanical, Materials, and Aerospace Engineering (MMAE) department at the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago as Assistant Professor this fall.
My areas of current research interest are mechanics and dynamics, wave propagation, metamaterials and phononics, NDE and SHM but more importantly I love working on creative and intriguing problems. A synopsis of my current and past research can be foundĀ on my research page (along with my CV and a list of selected publications).
Personal:
I have also maintained a blog for many years now (Chintan). On the one hand it has allowed me to indulge my love for writing and on the other it has proved to be a Dorian Grayesque sort of reminder of my own journey through time - a vague foggy clearing through the thick outgrowth that is life, with all its false detours and its flashy poisonous fruits.
I love reading books and have compiled a list of the ones that I remember having read (Books). No such list can exist without the compiler having to suffer hushed recriminations of pomposity. Apart from the surely present element of showing-off, I genuinely hope that people can pick from the list and enjoy some of the greatest artistic creations of the human race.
I have also been trying to compile my family's genealogy. If you are related to me, even by a remote thread, consider helping me by adding your own knowledge about your family, descendants, and ancestors at my Genealogy page.
