Hello!

These are the personal pages of Ankit Srivastava. I have tried to make them reflect my own personality to some extent but since personality mutates with such fickleness, I am not sure if they do justice to it. From a life that is continually teaching me lessons in humility and arrogance, I have taken out a few immutable leaves upon which lie the wrinkled impressions of the outmoded fashion that is often the past.

The great Groucho Marx once said something to the effect that 'I don't think I've ever made it clear but I was born at quite a young age'. Even though memory fails me here, I'm inclined to believe that my case was similar. The place was Badhalganj which when spelled 'Bad-haal-ganj' has given me hours of solitary joy and vindication. A quarter century has elapsed since then, and it seems nothing more than a blink of an eye - a discontinuity, a mere theoretical curiosity which has no consequence of its own but lives only as a convenient reference with which to remember the blurry years.

I have recently got my Ph.D from the University of California San Diego in the general field of Structural Engineering with specific focus on wave propagation. My adviser at UCSD was Dr. Francesco Lanza di Scalea. I am now working as a postdoctoral researcher in Dr. Nemat Nasser's group. Further details on my current and future research are on my research page. My thoughts on all and sundry are on my blog.

I have also been trying to compile my family's genealogy. The circular wheels of history, which are both jading and invigorating at the same time, are nowhere more tangible than in a chart which has you cornered in a little nook somewhere in the vast and intricate drama of human descendency. Its known extent spans hundreds of years and thousands of kilometers and an individual is nothing but a footnote on it. I am trying to figure it out for my own lineage and extended family. If you are related to me, even by a remote thread, consider helping me by adding your own knowledge about your family, descendants, and ancestors at my Genealogy page. I will be more than happy to clarify if you have any confusions regarding the genealogy page.
